Accessibility Policy

1. Commitment to Accessibility

Custom Learning Design Pty Ltd is committed to ensuring that its digital content and learning solutions are accessible to people with disabilities. We recognise accessibility as a core element of quality learning design and digital delivery, and as part of our broader commitment to inclusion, equity, and social responsibility.

This policy sets out our accessibility goals, the standards we apply, and how accessibility is embedded into our digital design and delivery practices.

2. Standards and Conformance

Custom Learning Design Pty Ltd commits to aligning its digital content with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, at Level AA, with Level AAA applied where feasible and appropriate.

WCAG 2.2 provides internationally recognised guidance for making digital content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

3. Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to the following digital assets produced by Custom Learning Design Pty Ltd:

  • Public-facing websites owned or managed by the organisation
  • eLearning products and digital learning content developed by the organisation, including:
  • SCORM-based modules
  • Interactive eLearning
  • Video-based learning content
  • Digital documents produced as part of learning solutions, including PDFs and Word documents

This policy does not apply to:

  • Third-party platforms or systems that are not developed or controlled by Custom Learning Design Pty Ltd
  • Legacy systems or tools not actively maintained by the organisation

Where third-party platforms or tools are used as part of a learning solution, Custom Learning Design Pty Ltd will take reasonable steps to consider accessibility during selection and implementation and, where appropriate, provide accessible alternatives.

4. New and Updated Content

All new and updated digital content produced by Custom Learning Design Pty Ltd from 1 January 2026 will be designed and developed to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, with Level AAA applied where feasible.

Accessibility will be considered throughout the design and development lifecycle, including during learning design, content creation, development, and quality assurance.

5. Existing Content

Existing digital content produced by Custom Learning Design Pty Ltd will be reviewed and updated to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA by 1 January 2026.

Where full remediation is not immediately feasible, accessibility improvements will be prioritised based on:

  • The impact on users
  • Frequency of use
  • The severity of accessibility barriers

6. Third-Party Content

This policy does not require user-generated content or third-party content that is not created or controlled by Custom Learning Design Pty Ltd to meet WCAG conformance requirements.

However, where third-party content is incorporated into learning solutions, Custom Learning Design Pty Ltd will:

  • consider accessibility as part of procurement and selection processes, and
  • provide accessible alternatives or reasonable adjustments where practicable.

7. Authoring Tools and Procurement

Custom Learning Design Pty Ltd aims to ensure that its authoring tools and content development processes align with the Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines (ATAG).

From 1 January 2026, accessibility will be a key consideration in the selection and procurement of new authoring tools, platforms, and technologies, with preference given to tools that support the creation of accessible content and meet or exceed accessibility standards.

8. Roles and Responsibilities

Accessibility is a shared organisational responsibility.

Custom Learning Design Pty Ltd is responsible for:

  • implementing this policy
  • embedding accessibility into digital design and development practices
  • ensuring that staff and contractors involved in content creation are aware of accessibility requirements
  • reviewing and maintaining accessibility practices over time

9. Review and Continuous Improvement

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains current, effective, and aligned with applicable standards and organisational practices.

The policy will also be reviewed when:

  • accessibility standards are updated
  • significant changes are made to digital platforms or delivery approaches
  • new types of digital content are introduced
